Hi Mandie! I have never been a fan of DietBet and have never participated in one. Personally, like you, the word “diet” already gives me negative connotations. In addition I think it sets people (speaking of how I am of course, assuming Iâm not the only one that feels this way) up for failure and bad feelings. There are so many other ways to be successful. You can even set up your own “pot” as a reward. So I agree, there are other, healthier alternatives to DietBet!!
Thanks for visiting! Yes, I totally agree! It would be terrible to add insult to injury to have you lose money AND feel unsuccessful despite many efforts that were actually really helping you closer to your goals in ways that would/should be measured off the scale! <3
Can I just say I agree 100% with the anti diet bet…I actually did it once, makes me sick to think of it now…it is soooo twisted and not healthy for the mind and really the body in the long run!

I did it too, once! And it was silly! Because I have always been on the small end, it was basically possible to drink a lot of water, weigh myself, and then weigh myself in the morning another day. So I guess I sort of cheated… And mother nature and my cycle played a role, too! It did keep me a little on track with random times, where I considered whether or not to indulge in foods that donât help me toward my goal, or where I considered skipping a workout, but overall, I could see it being damaging to someone with serious weight to lose who may be doing the right things and building muscle at a faster rate than losing fat!
When I first heard about DietBet, I was skeptical. I mean, it does seem kind of wrong IMO. Not only for the word diet, but for the fact that itâs a competition to lose the most weight. Sure, it works great for some people, but I agree, it needs to be a lifestyle. Diets just donât work. You drop the weight and then put it back on if you donât learn good new habits.
