#TransformationTuesday: My Master’s Hammer & Chisel Results (and a 21-Day Fix Update)!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are having a fantastic week!

Back in January, I had a “come-to-Jesus” moment, and I shared it on facebook (but I can’t find it. I thought stuff was supposed to live on the internet forever?).

Basically, after getting into the best shape of my life with two rounds of 21 Day Fix Extreme (which I plan to do again soon), I got a little bit too comfortable with nutrition. I was doing Brazil Butt Lift, and combining it with some heavy weightlifting, and thought these extra calorie burns gave me license to eat whatever the H I wanted, so I did! And it showed. And I noticed it starting to show. You know how people judge the obese people on “my 700lb life” and say “You don’t get to 700lbs overnight?” Turns out, you don’t get to 143.5lbs overnight, either!

Some of it was denial - I thought “Since I am lifting heavy, it’s probably muscle!” and some of me was arrogant - “If I eat a lot now and get a little out of shape, I will have a more dramatic transformation when I do Hammer & Chisel in January!

Then when it was time to do my “befores” for Hammer + Chisel, I realized I had dug myself a deeper hole than I had imagined! And then I decided I’d need to enlist the help of the 3-Day Refresh to start! So, here are my “befores” and stats for the 3-Day Refresh that time (not as great as my first round, but still good and helped eliminate cravings!):

Pre Jan 2016 3DR:

Right arm: 12″
Left arm:12″
Chest: 36″
Waist: 30″
Hips: 38.5″
Left thigh: 22.5″
Right thigh: 22″
Weight in pic: 143.5 lbs (highest ever)

Post:

Left thigh: 21.5″
Right thigh: 21.5″
Weight in pic clothes: 138 lbs.

To spare sharing A TON of pics, I will share a comparison I made when I was 1/2 way through Hammer & Chisel here

That third pic was March 4th. I finished the program on April 1st, and here are my final results!

From a weight and measurement standpoint, here you go:

Also on sale is Beachbody on Demand with Portion Fix!

I also need to share some love of one of my coaches who is new to Beachbody and just completed 21 Day Fix for the first time with amazing results. Check out Teri, a single mother kicking Multiple Sclerosis’ booty’s transformation!

She’s kicking rear!

If you’d like to experience similar results, we have a group coming up starting MONDAY! It’s free to join. We’re focusing on mindset in addition to fitness and nutrition. When you read “Strong is the New Sexy,” do you think “I want that!” If so, this is for you! 😉

Click here to join us!  Or, you can message me here and we can chat about it!

What makes you feel sexy?

Guinea Pigs Wanted to Test Fitness + Nutrition Support & Accountability App!

Hello there! The moment I have been waiting for for a while has arrived!

Beachbody has launched the My Challenge Tracker App!

Previously, Beachbody coaches primarily ran their businesses through facebook groups - which was great for people who are “facebook people,’ but less than ideal for those who don’t like sharing on facebook!

Now, there’s an app that can help track your fitness with your accountability coach - me!

I am looking for people to test it with me next week! All you need to do is give me your email address, and you can do that by sending me a message through my contact form HERE

I can’t wait to hear from you!

Let’s get those goals!

xoxo,

Mandie

The next 40+ Days…. My Reboot & Plan for Lent!

Hello hello!

I hope you had a great time watching the Super Bowl! Did you try Tony Horton’s new workout from my last post

I hope you didn’t eat anything too terrible! This was my contribution to the Super Bowl Party I attended!

What did you cook to bring to the Super Bowl Sunday party? 󾬖 The friend whose party we attended requested “something…

Posted by Mandie on Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Anyway, I wanted to talk about Lent! I have already blogged about how February 2016 is TRULY the start of my 2016, and now I have more to back me up, because…

1. The Lunar New Year/Chinese New Year was just the other day, and yes, I celebrated…

Gratuitous selfie time! Wearing red for February being Heart Healthy month and for Chinese New Year! I’m excited to celebrate that for the first time tonight! 󾍇❤️󾠣󾇎󾔠󾔗

and

2. Lent is upon us!

Traditionally speaking, I remember growing up as a non-Catholic with many Catholic friends, and hearing what people were giving up. During the RCIA process I went through last year (RCIA is how an adult converts to Catholicism), I learned that you don’t necessarily have to GIVE UP anything, but that you can also choose to better yourself in some way. Since I am doing Hammer + Chisel, I don’t even really have much I could choose to give up! So, here are my plans!

This is inspired by the very same Lewis Howes podcast I shared from before (Check it out here)!

Between NOW & Easter, I will do the following every day:

1. Commit to working out every morning! This is already mostly in progress, but the “morning” part could use some reinforcement!
2. Do something every day to give back, give gratitude, and give to myself (these can be three separate things per day, or sometimes things that combine)!
3. Commit to personal development every day, whether it is books, webinars, podcasts, or other!
4. Stick to my Hammer & Chisel meal plan!
5. Work my business DAILY. I have big goals for this year, and I will tell you more about them very soon!

Feel free to hold me accountable to these! If you want to help hold me accountable, check these out:

I am hosting a group starting Monday to reinforce the clean eating and working out!

Click here to join. It’s free, and I will hold you accountable, too!

Also, if you are interested in doing some of what I do - the “changing lives” part of “I change lives and play dress up,” I am hosting a webinar in 1.5 hours about Beachbody coaching! I realize this is last-minute, so if you aren’t able to join me, you can always check out these links:

I hope to see your smiling face on tonight’s webinar, or in my next challenge group! 😉

What are you doing to recognize Lent?

How to Look HOT in your Halloween Costume!

Halloween is coming! Although I have never been the type, you may be someone who wants to look hot in a sexy costume! While you might not make a huge difference in your body in the next week, you could get a great jumpstart on your goals for 2016 now!

Right now, there are 10 weeks left of 2015. So if you lost one pound per week starting next week (which is so do-able!), you’d start 2016 ten pounds lighter! If you lost two per week, you would ring in the new year 20lbs lighter! And, I am sure you can do the math, but if you lost three pounds per week, you would lose 30 pounds by the end of the year! Depending on how much you have to lose, these are very possible goals!

Now, speaking of goals, as a general rule, I discourage “weight loss” goals, or results-based goals. Here’s why, and what I encourage instead!

However, weight loss CAN be an indicator of success, so I don’t mind people tracking it, as long as they don’t obsess over it!

Either way, I have a potential opportunity for you that I am sure you’ll love! A couple coaches on my team and I are doing a free challenge group! It is a “BOOty Scared to the Core” facebook group! The “BOOty” part is because we will be giving you a butt workout every day! The “Scared” part is because we will ALSO be educating you on sugar and other scary food ingredients you should try to avoid (but don’t worry - we will also give you alternatives to choose instead)! And the “Core” part? You guessed it - ab workouts!

That sounds like a recipe to have a great start at whichever goal you might have - whether it is weight loss, a fitness goal, or to look hot in your Halloween costume! Click here to join us! We start 10/26!

And if your goal IS to look hot - here’s some extra help, in case your costume involves false eyelashes (or you want it to)! 😉

Are you dressing up this year? What are you going to be? What do you plan to do to make sure you feel your best?

Fit Foodie Friday: CUPCAKE EDITION!

Before you get TOO excited, it’s probably not the cupcakes you’re thinking…

THESE cupcakes are low carb, paleo/primal/keto, gluten-free EGG cupcakes!

I did an experiment to see about skipping steps - how saving time would go!

Almost a year ago, I made egg cupcakes and posted the recipe on instagram.

Tonight, I made something very similar, but thought to myself “Why am I cooking the veggies twice?”

So today, since I wasn’t adding meat to the egg cupcakes, I tried chopping up a bunch of kale, parsley and mushrooms and just putting them into the egg and milk mixture, then pouring it into the cupcake pan and baking it.

Well, let’s say this. You know how when you cook any sort of leafy green thing, it shrinks down? If you try to put two whole bunches of kale in, you will have a lot of leftover kale shoved off to the side to sauté later and make something else. But other than that, I’d say it was a success!

So, here’s what I did:

Pre-heat oven to 400°.

Whisk 11 eggs, and add 2TBS milk.

Add raw, cut up veggies that you did not feel like pre-cooking and mix it up.

Grease a cupcake pan and put some cut up kale in it.

Pour the egg and milk and mushroom (those were my choices) mix on top of the kale.

Pop into the oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the egg top is puffy and turns golden brown.

Put some Boursin on top (or into the middle - we think that would have been better, but I forgot until it was already in the oven)!

Remove from the oven & enjoy!

Some things I love about this recipe are that they are so versatile - you can put anything you want inside! Also, I love that they are portable - you can kinda just put them in whatever container and take them to go very easily for a delicious and healthy snack!

What would you like to see my primal-ify next week? I have a primal challenge coming up the 12th!

And this Monday, I am co-hosting a webinar about Beachbody coaching. Click here if you are interested!

Fit FILIPINO Foodie Friday! Carne A La Cubana!

Well, hello! If you didn’t already know, my gorgeous boyfriend is half Filipino. =)

As such (especially in and around Daly City), we have had a lot of adventurous food choices, which lend themselves well to the nose-to-tail aspect of Primal eating - things like fish head soup (yes, I ate a fish eyeball at his Grandma’s house), and different organ meats! It’s common in almost every culture but American! It is healthy for you, and I feel better about an animal losing its life for my food if I know the whole animal was used!

Anyway, this recipe doesn’t actually have organ meat, though it could! It just happens to be my favorite Filipino dish! I combined recipes between the ingredient list from the restaurant where I first found it, and this recipe here!

Obviously, the presence of chickpeas, peas (which I forgot, but were in the recipe) as well as raisins and bananas don’t make this an ideal primal meal, but if you’re going with JERF and moderation, this is delicious!

Without further ado, here’s the recipe I used (plus peas, because I meant to add them)!

Ingredients:

2lbs ground beef (or one pound each beef or pork, or sneak in organ meat)!
½ cup raisins
1 cup frozen green peas
1 can garbanzo beans
10 baby carrots, diced
1 giant red pepper, diced
1 medium yellow onion, minced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 medium tomato, diced
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon gluten-free soy sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
6 pieces fried banana (saba)
6 pieces fried eggs

Directions:
In a large cooking pan, sauté the onion, garlic, carrots, tomato and red pepper.
When the tomato becomes soft, put-in the ground beef and pork. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
Pour-in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and raisins. Stir and then cover the pan. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes or until the liquid evaporates.
Remove the cover and then put-in the green peas, garbanzo beans. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes in low to medium heat.
Arrange in individual plates with steamed rice, fried bananas, and fried eggs.
Serve. Share and enjoy!

Optional additions: You can serve this over rice, cauliflower rice, or fried potatoes (Patio Filipino’s site says “Friend Potatoes,” which made me giggle)!

Notes: In case you don’t know how to make fried bananas: I sliced bananas, put honey on each side and sauteed them in hot butter.
Also, for the eggs: we didn’t fry all six eggs at once, just fried a few initially and then made them fresh to top leftovers - or mixed the Carne a la Cubana in with scrambled eggs for leftovers!

Let me know what you think if you try it! 😉

What else would you like me to Primal-ify?

xoxo,

Mandie

Let’s Get Fit Together - For Summer and For Life!

Summer is approaching, and for many, that knowledge brings both joy and pain at the same time. Joy, because the weather will be beautiful. Pain, because beautiful weather also means wearing less clothes, which can be embarrassing or nerve-wracking for many!

One of my challengers (pictured above) just finished the 21 Day Fix, and lost nine pounds in only three weeks. This inspired me, and now Tommy and I are going to do the 21-Day Fix Extreme starting Monday, May 18th!

I decided that it would be fun to do this together as a group, so I invited my team to do it with me, and now it’s going to be a party! Want to join? Click here, and request to join our facebook group! We are starting tomorrow, May 11th, with a prep week to get to know each other, share our goals, and prepare our kitchens, but we will accept anyone up until the end of the day on May 18th, when we start doing the programs! No purchase is required to join us, and you don’t have to be doing the 21-Day Fix or 21-Day Fix Extreme; you can just join if you want to follow your own fitness and nutrition plan and commit to it, along with participating in our group and helping share motivation, support, and accountability!

I hope to see you as part of our group! Let’s get Fit for Summer and Fit for LIFE!

xoxo,

Mandie

Need a SIMPLE Portion Control and Fitness Solution?

Hello! I am here with another review of a Beachbody product! This one is called the 21-Day Fix, which launched last February, and was a HUGE success!

What sets this program apart from others like it?

Many programs offer just fitness, or just nutrition, but this offers both, and with an optional amazing supplement!

One of the toughest parts of eating right for many people is knowing how much of what to eat. The 21-Day Fix simplifies it by using a container system. Each color container corresponds with a food list (based roughly upon macronutrients). You use your weight and goals to determine a range of calories you should be consuming, and that informs how many of each container you should eat during the day, and the size of the container shows you exactly how much (or there’s a description of the equivalent of a container, for foods that would be weird to stuff into a container)! Many people who are dieting do not eat enough, causing their bodies to go into “starvation mode,” where they try to store as much fat as they can and conserve calorie burn, making workouts less effective. Others may eat too much. This system tells you exactly how much you should eat, and without stressful calorie counting! AND you can still have indulgences like wine and chocolate!
There are also seven different 30-minute workouts that offer a balanced approach to fitness, combining cardio, strength training, pilates, and yoga, so that you’re not just losing weight, but improving your general fitness and establishing healthy habits.

I did the program, but I have a hard time keeping my before & after pictures straight! But, I have a couple great examples to share!

This is my friend and a coach on my team, Sylvia.

Didn’t she do a great job! That is just in one round! Here’s her post from facebook, which includes her awesome stats!:
And it’s not just for the ladies! Here’s an incredible transformation of one of my teammate’s husbands!

Whoa!

I am fortunate in that I get to update this post with even more results from my friend! She released 9lbs back into the universe in only 21 days!

Anyway, as you can see, this program is simple and effective, and shows amazing results after following it for 21 Days. And of course, you can repeat rounds, too - it’s not just 21 Days and done!

Here’s the video the company made that explains the 21 Day Fix.

And what’s even more exciting is that Beachbody came out with an extreme version of the 21 Day Fix - 21 Day Fix Extreme! Here’s a video about that! It can be purchased in a challenge pack or on its own at these links! Update: I have completed 21 Day Fix Extreme, Round One! Here are my results and reviews!

As I mentioned above, the program has an optional supplement - Shakeology. At this link, you can get the 21Day Fix combined with Shakeology, which saves you money! You can also purchase it without Shakeology here, though it’s recommended to do it with Shakeology!

A couple of coaches on my team and I are doing a challenge group, where we will provide support and accountability to go with your fitness and nutrition plan, and we’re starting February 22nd. Use the contact form if you’d like to join us!

xoxo,

Mandie

P.S. The 21-Day Fix and 21-Day Fix Extreme’s best friend is Shakeology. Check out more info on Shakeology here!

My Experience with Beachbody’s 3-Day Refresh!

This past Wednesday, I completed my third 3-Day Refresh. If the fact that I have done this three times since it came out doesn’t give you a review in itself, I am not sure what to tell you!

Anyway, I have to say that I LOVE the product! As you can see in the image above, I lost a few pounds and inches, which is awesome! I plan to always have one on-hand in case I am called for a last-minute bikini or lingerie photoshoot, just so that I can get rid of any extra water weight, as long as I have those three days!

But honestly, the best part is the way that my cravings for junk food virtually disappear. It has been a couple days, and you could unwrap a candy bar and put it on my nose for hours, and I would not eat it!

I don’t know exactly what they are excitedly piling on this poor dog’s nose, but it looks like something a dog would probably find tasty!

Anyway, needless to say, I am super happy with the refresh, and plan to do it quarterly, in addition to the aforementioned modeling situations.

If you are interested in checking it out, there’s a sale on it this month, where you can get the cleanse itself, as well as a month’s supply of Shakeology, for $140, which is just $10 less than Shakeology on its own! This deal goes on until 1/31/15. It may come back, so if you are reading this after January 2015, send me a message and we can chat about options!

Here’s a video that Beachbody made about this amazing product!

And of course, I had to make my own video with tips!

To order the Refresh as a challenge pack (recommended), click here! To get it on its own, click here.  Not only do you get the product, but you get me as your personal health coach for free. My goal is to help as many people as I can, and you could be the next one!

If you have any questions about the Three Day Refresh, fitness, nutrition, beauty/makeup, or sustainability, let me know and I would be happy to help!

xoxo,

Mandie
