I don’t think I have ever waited a full week to post a recipe. This is what I made for dinner last Sunday evening. It was fantastic! However, several hours after dinner, our fun son passed away, and life went crazy/lazy for a while. That, coupled with traveling for Thanksgiving led to a significant delay, but with NO further delay, here’s a great, delicious recipe for instant pot shredded chicken taco wraps!
I was super excited to go to The Makeup Show LA, because this is the first time I was able to go! I have been to the Makeup Show in Chicago many times, San Francisco once, PhamExpo, IMATS… But this is my first The Makeup Show LA! A fun fact is that Tommy was going to propose to me last year, and surprise me by flying me down to LA for the gala the night before and propose, but that ended up not happening! I can’t say enough about how happy I am about the way he chose to do it instead, though!
Since we moved from the Bay Area/Silicon Valley to Los Angeles, I have been doing lots of makeup work – now is the fun part – waiting for it and then posting it! I did a shoot a couple weeks ago in Malibu that was at such a stunning location with an amazing team! Check out my Malibu Makeup Artist Editorial Shoot!
Just after I mention working with these two photographers in my last makeup portfolio update post, I get images from our last shoot together! It was an ad for Audi On Demand, which is a service where you can rent an Audi (you guessed it, on demand) for whatever occasion you need it for! I had the privilege of being the Professional Makeup Artist, Grooming, and Hair Stylist for this awesome ad!

This week’s guests, for Bold Moves Podcast Episode 125 Mira Zaki has done some serious, bold moves. Mira is a photographer whose focus is to help women feel amazing and heal through her sessions. Her biggest bold move was her move from LA to DC to NYC in less than 3 months. Mira truly despised the job she had in DC, even though it was halfway between where she came from, and where she wanted to be. Mira wanted to live in NYC. Mira decided to quit her job, even before her contract ended with the job in DC. On December 27, 2007, Mira took a one-way Chinatown to Chinatown bus from DC to NYC for an $11 ticket, with just her laptop, camera, and one suitcase in hand to move to NYC and never looked back! This move has paid off for Mira in a big way! Hopefully, Mira’s story will help you make some new Bold Moves! Please enjoy BBold Moves Podcast Episode 125 Mira Zaki!
Thrice Published on Huffington Post!
I was published on Huffington Post again! You may remember previously that an article I wrote about mascara was published to Huffington Post and Apple News, and then another article I wrote about using Instagram or Snapchat to promote blog posts was published on Huffington Post and on Forbes.com. Well, now I’ve written an article about whether lingerie models find their jobs demeaning, and it was also published on Huffington Post!
Miscellaneous Mandie Stuff:
Those of you who know me already know that my kitten friend (who was 14.5 years old) passed away unexpectedly this week. While sorting through our sadness, my husband Tommy and I found a way to help Refugio’s legacy live on. We took the life lessons from our kitten friend and made them into a set of rules to live by, and we’re calling them “Refugio’s Rules.”
