Hello, friends! It has been FOREVER since I have written a blog! I was blessed with the opportunity to do a super fun makeup job, which happened to be a six-day job with four of the days being 10+ hours long, and a 45-minute commute both ways! I got to be the Makeup Artist for Fox Sports for the US Open!
I have done hair and makeup for the folks at Fox Sports before, but it was for Beats by Dre, not Fox Sports itself.
There they are on set! Brad had someone take the picture and then tweeted it, so I grabbed it from his twitter!
This is a picture of the view I thought I was going to have all week…
We were right on the 18th green!
At the end of that day, I hopped back on the golf cart, and Holly’s personal security for the week, Roger, gave me a ride back to the production compound. Little did I know, he would take great care of me all week!
The next day and entire rest of the shoot, there was another artist working with me, although that varied between three different artists – two of them for two days each, and one for one day! These lovely ladies were kind enough to take behind-the-scenes pictures, so here they are!
As I mentioned, I was not in the studio the whole time. As a matter of fact, most of the time, I wasn’t. I was at “The Holly Spot,” which was right near the scoring trailers, and where the golfers would come through after they finished each day – and where reporters would grab them (figuratively) for interviews! It was wonderful, because I got to be outside!
Another exciting part of this is that in addition to the golfers’ makeup, I also got to do makeup or powder on guests. One day, it was Joe Buck and Paul Azinger – before their work started Saturday and Sunday. But even more exciting was when Jerry Rice showed up!
For the most part, most of my work was done at the beginning of the day. Once Holly’s and Joe’s (among the nicest and funniest talents I’ve worked with) makeup were done (I airbrushed both of them with Temptu, and then did a glam look on Holly each day and concealer/powder/light contouring for a natural look on everyone else), I just stuck around to do touch-ups, or to do makeup on golfers or guests, which meant a lot of relaxing on a golf course, and bonding with the crew!
Since it was such a laid back job, I was sad when I saw this:
Though it was exciting to powder the Champion’s face after her amazing accomplishment, especially with the crazy ending of the tournament!
It was so fun being a part of such an incredible event and seeing behind the scenes and all the work that goes into making such a huge project go smoothly. One of the highlights was when we were helping Holly figure out how to introduce her next clip, and decided to work in a Stepbrothers reference!
Here it is, also with my golf cart ride with my security guard/BFF for the week, Roger!
Even with all that, the best part of the whole thing was the people! On Monday, when it was all over, I was having Team Fox Sports withdrawals! Here I am on the last day on the golf car (again) with Holly, Bernie (producer), and Roger! <3
Beyond just the wonderful people in the photo, EVERYONE was so nice and friendly! I hope I get to work with all of them again soon!
Speaking of soon (aren’t I smooth?), please stay tuned to my Friday blog, where I am having a giveaway and sharing an awesome recipe!
ALSO, here is the challenge group that are coming up…. Soon! 😜 Monday’s group has two foci – one will be general fitness and nutrition for a week for anyone who needs that plus support, but the reason it is called “Shake Up July” is because we are going to challenge ourselves to drink Shakeology every day for a week. And yes, there will be prizes! If you don’t already have a Shakeology home direct subscription, or a supply of it, you can get the taste sampler!
