For a long time, I stayed away from doing too much in the makeup tutorial department on my blog and social media, because I felt like YouTube and Instagram are dominated by artists who spend HOURS blending and doing super creative makeup, and that is just not what I normally do – both in personal and professional situations.
For example, I am not the type of artist who’s going to make several looks inspired by junk food, like Skelotim here.
This isn’t just because I am not into junk food… It’s because I am a different kind of artist.
For a long time, I almost resented it and felt bad about myself for it. But, at Blogfest, I spoke with tons of other ladies like me – ladies who like to look great, but don’t have hours to do makeup inspired by our favorite snacks…
Although this sunset (or sunrise – how do you tell?)-inspired look is one of my favorites ever from my personal portfolio!
Anyway, I decided that I am in the NBA of Makeup Artistry – I am a Natural Beauty Amplifier. And I guess I do that in real life, too, as a healthy lifestyle coach! (This also works since I have done makeup on a couple NBA players – 😂)!
So, that being said, my makeup tips and tutorials on here and other social media are going to increase! BUT, they are going to be practical tips for ladies who have a lot to do and want to look good doing it. That’s what my friends and blogfest wanted, so that’s what they’re getting!
This is also perfect, because on the majority of the makeup jobs I book, this is exactly what I am doing – either making someone a camera-ready version of themselves, or enhancing their natural features!
And here’s the first one!
I am often asked whether people should put their foundation or concealer on first. Here’s a video with the answer!
Before I clicked “record,” I did my eye makeup (pro tip: do this if you are wearing dark or bright colors – that way if you spill on your face, you can easily wash it without worrying about fixing anything or putting concealer over the spillage/fallout, and then you can avoid looking like a tired raccoon)!, my skin prep (skincare and primer), and my lip gloss. Then I finished my look on camera!
Also important to note: this was a periscope video, so filmed live – hence why it isn’t perfectly polished. Excuse that, please!
Ok, without further ado:
Alright, hope you found that helpful! I also included some of the rest of my standard beauty routine with bronzer, highlighter, and blush!
And if you’re curious about my hair and how it looked like this about ten minutes after a tough workout, check out this video:
